Razi Akhtar Shoq, a famous Urdu poet Razi Akhtar Shoq passed away on January 22, 1999, in Karachi. Razi Akhtar Shoq's real name was Khawaja Raziul Hassan Ansari and he was born on April 23, 1933, in Saharanpur, India. He received his early education from Hyderabad Deccan and graduated from Ottoman University. After the formation of Pakistan, he passed the MA examination from Karachi University and then started his career with Radio Pakistan, where he performed many beautiful plays under the name of Studio No.9.

Razi Akhtar Shoq was a poet of modern language and dialect, and his poetry collections include Murray Moazzam and Murray Khabab. He was also awarded the Hijra Award by the Academy of Literature Pakistan. He was buried in Azizabad Cemetery in Karachi
