Dekh lishaam ne tabinda sahar ki surat.

اپنے چہرے سے جو زلفوں کو ہٹایا اس نے 

دیکھ لی شام نے تابندہ سحر کی صورت

Khugar-e-lazzat-e-azar tha itna 'Atish' 

Dard bhi manga to pahle se siva manga tha.

خوگر لذت آزار تھا اتنا آتش 

درد بھی مانگا تو پہلے سے سوا مانگا تھا

Zaban pe shikva-e-be-mehri-e-ḳhuda kyuun hai

Dua to mangiye 'Atish' kabhi dua ki tarah 

زباں پہ شکوۂ بے مہرئی خدا کیوں ہے

دعا تو مانگیے آتش کبھی دعا کی طرح
